#Huevember 2025: The November Art Challenge with Color Names & Hex Codes.
Huevember has always been one of my favorite art challenges. It’s simple: one hue for every day of November, but it was tough for me to come up with a subject matter from color alone. So, starting a few years ago, I began creating my own version of Huevember, complete with color names and hex values.
What is Huevember?
Huevember is a month-long art challenge where artists can create one work each day that includes the color (hue) in some way, one hue per day for the 30 days of November.
From what I can tell it began on Tumblr in 2014, created by Matthieu Daures, and has since become a worldwide creative tradition among illustrators, designers, and digital artists.
There are no official rules, just use the color prompts as inspiration. You can paint, draw, design, photograph, or do anything really. The goal is to explore the color wheel and stay creative all month long.
My Version: Huevember with Color Names & Hex Codes
Each year I publish a custom Huevember color list that includes:
The 30 hues of the color spectrum
Creative color names (for better prompt inspiration) & hex codes.
Adding color names gives each day a theme or spark for storytelling.

Pick a color from the day’s list.
Create something, anything, inspired by it.
Post it online with #huevember and/or #huevember2025.
It’s also a great way to revisit your Inktober pieces and give them a second life with color!
